There are so many benefits from regular yoga exercises that there would be too many to list.
One of the main reasons I teach yoga is the number of people in my classes who come to me with their own experiences of improved health and well being. This has ranged from improved breathing in asthma sufferers to those who have regained flexibility and movements in joints that they thought had seized up.
We are all individuals and we must remember that in attending any yoga class. It is never a competition. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses. We are different one day from the next and even one side from the other.
So I always encourage without pressure. You know your body better than anyone else and the poses I offer will regularly include choice, e.g. “You can do this, or, if you want to go further, you might want to try that.”
The most important thing is to enjoy it.
